Get it cheaper

Tips and tricks for getting flights (hotels, rental cars, whatever) cheaper fascinate me. That idea that you may in fact turn out to be smarter than everyone else and beat the system. Love it! Might not work, but I'm going to have a go anyway - I'm a tightwad!

Just lately, I've been seeing a few new tricks turn up online, and I almost want to book something so that I can check if they work. One trick involves clearing your cookie cache before checking whether the price of the hotel you booked has come down. Apparently, if you've already been to the site, the price for the same date will automatically stay the same. If you clear the cookies, the price goes down.

And today, there's this one on Concierge.com (via Gridskipper). Apparently there are some deals that won't even come up when you search a site like Orbitz. You have to go all the way through to the last part of the booking process for these deals to appear.
